About the project

Chris Beardshaw’s Myeloma UK: A Life Worth Living garden on Main Avenue, marking 25 years since Myeloma UK began its research into a cure, and 25 years since Chris built his first RHS show garden. A planted woodland with two temples, multiple vistas and a central pool, designed to be read slowly: patterned planting and intricate artwork rich with symbolism, and water as a prompt for reflection.

We built the temple structures. Show garden work is unlike anything else in construction. Everything is made to a designer’s exact intent, prefabricated off site, then installed in a few short days on a crowded showground with no margin for error and a judging deadline that does not move. Tolerances are tight, the work is in full view of the public and the press, and there is no second attempt.
